Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below shows time periods that are reserved and not confirmed exams. Please check with your instructor whether or not a course has its final exam in this time.

Make sure you read the Goethe exam guidelines on each exam page before you register. Make sure you register for the appropriate level of the exam.
Locations
The Exam Schedule lists the locations in which DEP conducts operator qualification exams. Check out the exam pages for additional information on exam content, exam rules and conditions, and other guidelines. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, hearing or visual impairment, please contact the exam provider directly and make sure to provide a detailed document upon registration.
Faculty can find their exam times through the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. The Registrar's Office also has a schedule of exam times for courses that are required to be tested under NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes in the evening are scheduled during the regular class time of the final exams.

Registration
The exam schedule is accessible online and students are encouraged to consult it. However it is important to note that the exam schedule can be altered at any time. This is why students should consult their instructors to make sure they have the correct date and time for their exam. Students should be certain to print the official list and bring it to their exam.
In addition to the exam schedule, students must familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines, the terms and conditions. These are on the page for each exam. Students acknowledge having read and agreed to the terms and conditions upon registration.
Exam locations will do their best to accommodate those who have special needs. The nature and extent of these needs should be noted on the registration and verified by a doctor's attestation. In addition, the exam locations must be kept confidential.
If a student is scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they must contact their instructor or department to arrange for a make-up test. Although it is possible to take three exams in one day, it can cause high stress levels and affect the quality of the test. The instructor may not be able to give an opportunity to take a makeup test on a different day.
Students must go through the course material prior to taking the test and work on their German skills. The test is a written test that tests your ability to read and write German. The examination results are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the test are awarded an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate documents achievement of language level A1. This level corresponds to the initial stage of the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free. Students are required to bring an official government ID to the examination. Those who do not have a valid photo ID are disqualified from the examination.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to receive a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you will need to pay the examination fee. This is in addition to the course fee.
